What We Do

Christian churches have been offering Christian Religious Education (CRE) to state schools in New Zealand for over 100 years.

CEC Auckland facilitates CRE programmes and chaplaincy in the majority of Auckland state schools, with the Greater Auckland branch of CEC encompassing the Bombay to Wellsford area.

Our primary purpose is to help children make good life choices. By sharing our love and knowledge of God and providing good role models, we stimulate children to think about critical issues and to understand that they can have purpose and hope. What we offer is a framework by which to discern faith for their lives.

CEC Auckland Provides:

• Coordination, training, support, resourcing and accreditation close to 1,000 voluntary teachers of Christian Religious Education (AKA Bible-in-Schools) in state primary schools in the Greater Auckland Region
• Assessment, training, support and coordination of chaplaincy services for state schools. (At the beginning of 2011 there were around 56 active chaplains in state primary, intermediate and secondary schools.)
• Information for churches and educational bodies about CEC's religious education and chaplaincy services.
